The name of the store, ‘TOKIJIKU,’ is derived from the phrase ‘Tokijiku no Kaku no Kinomi’ which is the name of a magical fruit that is first mentioned in the KOJIKI, or ‘Record of Ancient Matters;’ this Japanese citrus fruit symbolizes longevity as its leaves stay green all year round.

※Kojiki is Japan's oldest surviving historical account and was completed in 712. 

Our intent is to provide products like Tokijiku, hoping to energize everyone who chooses them, and we also would like to promote the incorporation of old/traditional products into a contemporary lifestyle.

Examples of old/traditional products could be kimono of the Meiji era, or haori (a knee-length garment worn over the kimono on formal occasions) of the Edo era.

We consider “waza,” or craftsmanship, as skill that can produce products that can be regarded as “traditional,” yet, the objects produced are useful in contemporary life.

Since ancient times, the Japanese have enjoyed fashion that incorporates craftsmanship in daily life.

Various goods like ‘Tokijiku-no-Kaku-no-Konomi’ can be a source of inspiration that can transcend ages.
